Lagos Government announces temporary closure of Iddo Bridge


The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Iddo Bridge in Ijora area of Apapa Local Government Area due to ongoing rehabilitation works.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi on Tuesday.
As stated in the press release, the Federal Ministry of Labor will install heavy steel bridge girders as part of the works on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the bridge.
The government explained that the operation would require a temporary closing the bridge for the safety of drivers and workers during the installation process.
“The entire section of the Iddo Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic during the above periods to ensure the safe installation of steel girders on the bridge.”
The closure is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and Sunday, June 21, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the affected periods to avoid traffic delays and inconvenience.
The Lagos State Government has urged road users to cooperate with traffic management officials and plan their journeys in advance while the bridge reconstruction works continue.
