Man City is negotiating with Chelsea over the compensation of Enzo Maresca

Manchester City opened official negotiations with Chelsea over the fee for Enzo Maresca as they move closer to appointing him as Pep Guardiola’s successor.
Both clubs are now in discussions at a legal level, with Maresca still technically under contract at Chelsea for more than three years following his departure in January.
The talks focused on the final financial terms
City are pushing for a deal within the week as they accelerate their managerial succession plan.
While the overall framework for Maresca’s return is largely set, several key details are still being finalized.
These include the timing of his official appointment, the structure of his coaching staff and other contractual terms related to his proposed contract.

Return to familiar surroundings for Maresca
Maresca previously worked under Guardiola during Manchester City’s 2022/23 treble. as part of the backroom staff, in a period that boosted his profile at the club.
That familiarity played a big part in City’s decision to pursue him as their long-term managerial option.
Chelsea were previously aware of City’s interest
Chelsea were reportedly informed last year that Maresca had been identified as a potential future candidate for the Manchester City job. Despite this, they continued with the project before his departure in January.
Negotiations between both clubs are still ongoing, and a deal is expected once compensation and contractual details are fully resolved.
