“Most of you mocking Generation Z are actually Generation Z”

AND Nigerian lady has sparked backlash on social media after calling out people who often disparage Gen Z, insisting that many of those critics are actually part of the same generation they mock.
The young lady, identified as Adewole Rebecca Adedamola on Facebook, expressed her frustration in a viral post which has since generated mixed reactions online.
“Gen Z started in 1997.” – says Lady
In her post, Rebecca questioned the way people casually use “Gen Z” as an insult or label for immaturity.
“Do you realize that Gen Z started in 1997? Do you realize that the oldest generation Z is almost 30 years old? And the youngest generation Z is 14 years old,” she said.
She added; “Any little thing, ‘Gen Z can’t relate. Jen jen jen… Do you people realize that Gen Z started in 1997?’“
Rebecca went on to argue that many people who criticize Generation Z are unknowingly part of the same generation.
“If you want to call it Baby Shark, do it, call it Gen Alpha, because Gen Z are NOT as young as you think they are“, she said.
She reflects on her childhood experiences
The lady also shared personal memories from her growing up to show how much she has witnessed the changes in Nigeria over the years.
“I am Generation Z who lived through the era of coin spending. I was well aware when five naira, ten naira, twenty naira and fifty naira notes were the news.”
“I knew when they changed it to the nylon we use today. I can vividly remember when they did the Golden Jubilee for the #50 bill.”
“I remember when a serving of pepper was #20 and when a cup of rice was #25 for long grain rice. I remember when 5 eggs was #100. When Indomie was #30, when a cup of Garri was #10.”
“Yes, I’m Gen Z and I remember.”
