AND woman has sparked reactions online after recounting an incident involving two friends whose relationship survived an alleged betrayal over ₦200,000 worth of betting winnings.
According to the woman, an incident happened in her neighborhood many years ago when a young man won ₦200,000 on a sports betting platform.
The final match on his ticket was played at night, which prevented him from immediately going to the bookmaker and withdrawing money.
Excited by his winnings, the man allegedly showed the winning ticket to a friend, unaware that the decision would later lead to controversy.
The ticket was stolen overnight
The woman explained that a friend stole the winning ticket that same evening and went to the betting shop early the next morning to claim it. prize before the rightful owner could do so.
After collecting the money, the suspect allegedly left the settlement, which caused panic and anger among residents who went in search of him.
When it was finally found, the woman claimed that only £4,000 remained of the original £200,000.
Sharing her amazement at the events, she said:
“What he didn’t know was that a friend had stolen the ticket that same night and rushed to the betting shop the next morning to cash the money before anyone noticed.”
The unexpected reconciliation surprised the residents
Despite the fallout and tension that followed the incident, the woman said the story took an unexpected turn a few months later.
According to her testimony, the two eventually reconciled and resumed their friendship, acting as if nothing had happened.
She added that she found it difficult to understand the turn of events, especially given the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft and the financial losses involved.
