Peter Obi claims they are trying to stop his 2027 presidential ambitions

Democratic Congress of Nigeria presidential candidate, Petar Obiclaimed that forces within the federal government were working to prevent him from appearing in the 2027 presidential election. of choice.

Speaking as a guest speaker at a leadership program organized by the NextGen Mentorship and Leadership Initiative at the Madonna University, Okija, Anambra, Obi claimed that efforts are underway to prevent him from contesting the next election.

According to him:

“If you know what they are doing to ensure that I am not on the ballot in 2027, you will be surprised. The Nigerian government is doing everything to ensure that I do not contest this election, but I am not looking at the obstacles, I am looking at the destination.

“I’m quite focused on the fruitfulness of the destination and that’s what drives me.”

Obi did not provide concrete evidence for the alleged efforts during his remarks.

The former Anambra governor also challenged all potential presidential candidates, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to a public debate on their plans for Nigeria.

“I challenge any of those contesting the debate to say what they want to do for this country, including President Bola Tinubu. I am not saying this to make you happy but to change Nigeria and make it work,” he said

Addressing the students, Obi said his pursuit of the presidency was not driven by personal ambition but a desire to improve the country, urging young Nigerians to focus on leadership, integrity and national development.

“I’m not desperate to be Nigeria’s president, but I’m desperate to see how Nigeria works. Go get your PVC. If you don’t vote, you’re damaging your future. When you have your PVC, don’t vote for me because I’m an Igbo man. I’m not running for election because I’m an Igbo man, but vote for me because I’m the most qualified.”

He added: “It is not about the Igbo people, but I want a Nigeria where nobody’s child can become somebody without knowing anybody. We want a country that will work. The North will benefit the most from my presidency.”

Speaking of insecurity, he said…

“I will fight to make Nigeria better and end crime in Nigeria. There is insecurity all over the country and everyone is involved, so I want to build a country that works.”

Reacting to the decision of the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which overturned a previous ruling forcing INEC to register the NDC as a political party, Obi said the ruling would not weaken his resolve.

“They can’t stop me. It won’t work. I assure you it’s not the end of the road. We are committed to this democracy and those who want to kill this democracy are trying to hurt society.

“The reactionary elements in Nigeria, those who want to keep Nigeria, do not want it to work, but I assure you it would work. I am confident that I will pull through because the will of the people must prevail,” he stated.

He added: “Nowhere is safe in Nigeria today, but the people who are supposed to help save the country are determined to harm our democracy. My message to all who think well of Nigeria, not just my supporters, is to remain calm and continue to resist this tragedy that is being imposed on Nigeria.”
