“Politicians must stand behind it” – David Ibiyeomie on the rise in kidnappings and insecurity in Nigeria

Founder of Salvation Ministries based in Port Harcourt, Pastor David Ibiyeomiehe went on to discuss the growing insecurity in Nigeria, questioning how kidnappers continue to operate despite the capabilities of security agencies.
Speaking during a recent church sermon, the priest suggested that those behind the abduction of schoolchildren and other victims may not be acting alone, stating that powerful individuals could be sponsoring the crimes.

“They don’t just choose those children without sponsors. Politicians must stand behind it,” he said.
Ibiyeomie also questioned why security agencies have not been able to trace and apprehend those responsible, despite their ability to trace individuals through technology and telephone communication.
According to him, the continued success of the hijackers points to the possibility of hidden forces aiding their operations.
“DSS can track people, so how come they aren’t tracking these kidnappers? There must be an invisible hand behind it. If DSS can track someone with a phone call, how come no one has been caught?” he added.
His remarks come amid growing concern over the recent spate of abductions and attacks in different parts of the country, including abductions of students and teachers.
The comments have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the role of security agencies and political actors in dealing with the challenges of insecurity in the country.
