RCCG breaks silence amid allegations of cancellation of protest against Pastor Adeboye

Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has responded to viral allegations surrounding his supervisor-in-chief, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, addressing allegations that he canceled a planned protest and remained silent on national issues.
In a statement released on Tuesday, June 2 via the church’s public relations page, the RCCG said its leader had been misrepresented through what it described as false narratives and agenda-driven comments.
The church also denied claims that Pastor Adeboye supported or campaigned for any political administration, insisting that he remained neutral
Clarification on the protest and the PFN directive
The RCCG dismissed those reports Pastor Adeboye has canceled all planned protests related to the insecurity.
According to the church, the situation was misinterpreted and what was communicated was an instruction from the Pentecostal Community of Nigeria (PFN) and not a cancellation of the protest.
The statement read:
“Pastor Adeboye only relayed the instructions of the Pentecostal Society of Nigeria (PFN) to RCCG members on the updated plan to hold the grand finale of the three-day prayer program at a centralized venue and hold a rally around the venue. This has been communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria.”
The church added that the adjustment applies to all churches affiliated with the PFN and is not a personal decision of the priest.
Answer to political accusations
The RCCG also addressed claims that Pastor Adeboye joined or campaigned for the current government, describing the allegations as false.
The cleric was said to have consistently maintained political neutrality and encouraged members to make their own electoral decisions.
“Pastor Adeboye has always encouraged members of the church to get their PVC cards and vote for anyone of their choice; he has always maintained a neutral attitude towards political parties because members of the church are members of different political parties.”
Position on national issues and insecurity
The church has rejected claims that Pastor Adeboye has remained silent on national challenges such as insecurity and economic hardship.
“Pastor EA Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and not the Commander of the Nigerian Armed Forces. He can only ask his members to join in prayers and convey the instructions given by CAN/PFN without directly influencing the military.”
The church urged the public to verify information before sharing it and warned against misrepresenting statements attributed to its leader.
