“Save the Children” – VeryDarkMan appeals to Tinuba over Oyo school kidnapping crisis

  • Nigerian commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), is calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies to act on the demands of the kidnappers.
  • His call comes after a new video surfaced online showing kidnapped students and teachers still in captivity.
  • The victims were taken three weeks ago during a violent attack in Oyo State.

Nigerian social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and relevant security agencies to urgently respond to the demands of the kidnappers who are holding dozens of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

His appeal came after a new video circulated online showing some of the abducted victims still in captivity, more than three weeks after they were taken during the violent attack.

The incident that took place on May 15, 2026, continued to raise concerns across the country about the safety and whereabouts of the children and their teachers, who remain in the hands of the kidnappers.

VDM’s reaction was also fueled by a separate emotional video featuring Rachael Alamu, principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, appearing in captivity calling for immediate intervention.

In the video, she urged authorities to engage the kidnappers in dialogue and dismissed several claims circulating on social media about the group’s demands.

She clarified that, contrary to widespread reports, the kidnappers were not demanding money, weapons or the introduction of Sharia law, but were instead demanding the release of certain individuals held in correctional institutions.

Reacting to the disturbing development, the VDM, which had earlier expressed concern over similar attacks, took to social media to express its frustration and address the president and security chiefs directly.

He stressed that saving the lives of kidnapped children and teachers should be the government’s top priority, urging the authorities to explore all possible options to secure their release.

“For the welfare of those poor innocent children, I am asking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all service chiefs to consider the request and allow these children to return to their parents,” he wrote.

The mass abduction reportedly took place when gunmen stormed three schools in Oriira Local Government Area during a coordinated morning raid.

Affected institutions include a high school, a Baptist kindergarten and elementary school, and an LA elementary school.

Reports say that a total of about 46 people were abducted, including 39 students — some of them as young as two years old — and seven teachers.

Public outrage deepened after a separate video purportedly emerged showing the killing of maths teacher Michael Oyedokun while in captivity, with another teacher also reportedly killed during the attack.
