“Since she took my responsibility, she should continue” — a woman recounts the fall after she paid school fees for her neighbor’s children

According to her testimony, the neighbor’s children had been at home for almost a month, which caused concern about their absence from school.
When she asked their mother why the children did not continue, she was told it was because of financial difficulties.
Tuition fee intervention
The woman said she inquired further about tuition fees and was informed that the fees for each child were £16,000, with three children.
Spurred on by the situation, she immediately transferred ₦50,000 to cover her fees, making it possible the children return to school a few days later.
However, the situation took a different direction when the children’s father noticed that they continued school and asked his wife how the school fees were paid.
The husband’s reaction causes tension
She explained that the payment was made by their neighbor. The children’s father’s response reportedly shocked both women involved.

After that comment, the woman said that the man’s attitude towards her changed significantly.
She explained that he began to look coldly at her and avoid friendly contact whenever their paths crossed in the neighborhood.
The woman added that the man’s wife advised her not to internalize the hostility and to respond with equal indifference.
The incident has since sparked conversations among residents and online observers about pride, responsibility and how financial hardship can strain relationships.
