“Stop Prioritizing Politics Over Truth” – Davido Scolds APC Singer Rarara After Calling Him Out

Afrobeats superstar Davido responded to criticism of APC’s praise of the singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara, insisting that patriotism requires public discussion of the country’s security challenges, not the protection of political interests.
The exchange started after Rarara criticized David’s appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert in Los Angeleswhere the singer wore a customized jacket with the names of kidnapped students and teachers from Oyo State with the message “Bring them back home”.
Rarara argued that taking Nigeria’s insecurity concerns to the international stage could damage the nation’s image.
Davido initially responded with a short social media post mocking the singer’s remarks, prompting a further response from Rarara.
The disagreement later escalated when the Afrobeats star issued a more detailed statement defending his actions.
According to David, drawing attention to the plight of abducted children and teachers should not be viewed through a political prism.
He asserted that silence in conditions of insecurity would be irresponsible and emphasized that concern for the safety of citizens should come before party reasons.
His words…
“Hell, every Nigerian should not be silent about the insecurity plaguing the nation, nor should he stop others from openly expressing their concerns. Showing partiality and prioritizing personal or political interests, and putting personal desires above community goals, is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot of your country, stop prioritizing politics over truth and fear God in all you do @kahuturarara”
