Two stars named on shortlist for Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea transfer

at Chelsea the ongoing search for a new central defender continues, and the Blues want to offer him Xabi Alonso longtime partner of Levi Colwill in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea remain interested in Como centre-back Jacob Ramon, with Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix also on the club’s long list of targets.

Ramon, who played 37 games in all competitions for Cesc Fabregas in Italy last season, was assessed by the Londoners during the January transfer window.

However, Chelsea decided to follow Jeremy Jacquet, who ultimately preferred a move to Premier League side Liverpool.

Sources say Chelsea’s interest in Ramon remains in the current summer transfer window, with the Blues looking to find a long-term partner for Levi Colwill.

With three years left on his contract at Selhurst Park, Palace are in a strong position, financially, when it comes to Lacroix.

Not every deal for the in-demand French international is expected to come cheap. Chelsea, sources say, are yet to make contact with Lacroix or Palace over a possible summer move.

The two centre-backs are part of a long list of targets for Chelsea this summer, with adding to and improving their centre-back options a priority for Xabi Alonso and the Sports team.

Colwill remains at the heart of the club’s long-term plans, but finding the right man to partner England is a dilemma that needs to be resolved this summer. There could also be relegation in the background for the Blues.

The aforementioned Como is very interested in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, and the Blues will only let the Cobham graduate leave this summer if the price is right.

Sources insist Chalobah remains highly regarded at the west London club as he approaches the final two years of his contract (with a club option for a further 12 months).
