Davido reacts after being called out by Reno Omokri for his advocacy for Oyo kidnapped children at FIFA concert

Nigerian music star Davido Adeleke was reacting after former presidential aide Reno Omokri criticized his advocacy of abducted school children and teachers from Oyo State during a global FIFA event.
The drama started after Davido used his appearance at the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles to draw attention to the kidnapping incident.
David’s message at the FIFA concert
While performing at the event, Davido wore a custom outfit with the names of 39 kidnapped schoolchildren and seven teachers allegedly drawn from communities in Oyo State.
The black jacket also had ‘Bring Them Home’ emblazoned in bold, while his inner shirt read ‘Nigeria’, making his performance a public call to action.
In a post shared after the concert, Davido only reiterated his message.
He wrote: “BRING THEM HOME.”
Reno Omokri drags the singer
Reacting to the gesture, Reno Omokri expressed concern over the use of public platforms to highlight cases of kidnapping.
He claimed that too much attention could sometimes backfire. Citing a popular quote often associated with Margaret Thatcher, he declared that “the public is the oxygen of terrorism”, suggesting that such exposure could benefit criminal groups.
Omokri argued that while Davido’s intention may be sincere, the approach could have unintended consequences.
Davido answers
Instead of directly joining the fray, Davido responded through his social media posts.
He shared a few photos from the FIFA concert and continued to push his message without addressing the criticism in detail.
“BRING THEM HOME,” he wrote a repetitive caption.
