Balogun brace inspires rampant USA to record win over Paraguay in World Cup opener

The United States they announced themselves as real candidates at 2026 FIFA World Cup with a dominant 4-1 win over Paraguaygiving a statement in front of his home fans.

Paraguay managed to score a consolation goal in the 73rd minute over Mauritius, taking advantage of a lapse in the home team’s defense.

Reyna sealed the historic victory for the USA

However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Gio Reyna added the fourth goal with the last kick of the game.

The result was historic for the United States, with a four-goal haul marking the most goals the USMNT has scored in a single World Cup game.

The previous record of three goals had stood since the 1930 tournament, when the Americans beat both Belgium and Paraguay by identical 3-0 scores.
