Five suspects arrested as Bauchi police rescue two kidnapped victims



Following a concerted security operation in Alkaleri Local Government Area, the Bauchi State Police Command rescued two kidnap victims and arrested five suspects kidnappers.
According to the police, the victims, a 40-year-old mother and her 25-year-old son, were abducted after gunmen broke into their home in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, Pali District on June 2.
Following the distress call, security personnel launched an intelligence-led investigation, which quickly led them to the suspected members of the kidnapping ring.
On the day of the incident, a joint team of police officers, army soldiers and local vigilantes hunted down and captured three perpetrators in Kuka village, Duguri district. Further investigation led to the arrest of two more people who are suspected of having participated in the crime.
Police said evidence gathered during the interrogation helped investigators locate the abducted victims, who were found unharmed during a follow-up operation on June 3.
The victims have since been treated and reunited with their families.
Authorities said all five suspects are still in custody and the case has been sent to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.
The command also said that efforts are underway to locate other members of the gang on the run and to recover the weapons allegedly used during the abduction.
The successful operation marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts of the security authorities to combat kidnapping and violent crimes across the state.
