“There are no vacancies in Aso Rock” – Edo Governor blames opposition for kidnappings, says Tinubu will still win

- Governor Monday Okpebholo has accused opponents of President Bola Tinubu of sponsoring insecurity to weaken support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
- While campaigning in Edo State, he declared that “there are no vacancies in Aso Rock” and insisted that the abductions would not create political opportunities for the opposition.

Edo State Governor, nMonday Okpebholo, has accused political opponents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of fomenting insecurity across the country in a bid to undermine the administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor said this on Tuesday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for local government council elections in Edo South Senatorial District.
“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. What is happening today is the work of the opposition,” Okpebholo said.
He claimed that the recent increase in kidnappings and insecurity was politically motivated and designed to create fear among Nigerians to weaken support for the president.
“They failed. Didn’t they fail? Was it because they kidnapped children? Then who will you rule? You will have no one to rule. So let them give us peace so that we can rule well,” he added.
In one of the most memorable moments of the speech, the governor declared:
“They can even kidnap us all, yes, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock.”
Okpebholo argued that violence and instability cannot secure political power, insisting that Senate seats, House of Representatives positions, governorships and presidential seats should be won through democratic means and not through fear or chaos.
He also praised President Tinubu’s leadership, saying the administration has already made visible progress through infrastructure projects and reforms, including the controversial abolition of fuel subsidies.
