“I mistakenly took a ₦2 million loan from OPay instead of ₦300k”

AND Nigerian sparked reactions online after he shared how he mistakenly received a ₦2 million loan from OPay instead of ₦300,000.

The incident, which was shared by @toshine4u on the microblogging platform, attracted widespread attention online.

How the incident happened

According to the man, he received the notification on his OPay an application showing that he is eligible for a loan of up to ₦2 million.

He explained that he needed around £250,000 for emergency use, so he decided to apply for £300,000.

However, while selecting the amount, he unknowingly made a mistake during the process and was shocked to see ₦2 million deposited into his account.

In his words:

“I got a notification on my Opay app that I can get a loan of ₦2 million. So yesterday I only needed ₦250k so I decided to apply so I can only take ₦300k.

As I pressed the amount, I didn’t know I made a mistake and before I knew it, I saw ₦2 million in my account.

Since I only need ₦300k, I quickly sent it with ₦2 million to my other account and I called customer service to withdraw the balance because I can’t pay the interest added on that ₦2 million.

The customer service representative tells me there is nothing they can do. Please, what can I do to avoid paying huge interest rates?”
