“I stood there looking for mistakes” — man reacts after carpenter completes ₦60,000 worth of work in one day

AND man sparked a debate online after sharing how the carpenter he hired completed the job much faster than expected while still collecting the full agreed payment.
According to the man, he negotiated a fee of ₦60,000 for what he believed would require two workers and two days to complete.
But when he arrived at the site the next day, he discovered that the carpenter had already completed the entire job himself.
An unexpected ending
The man said that he was surprised by the speed with which the works were completed and that he first wondered if the agreed price was still justified.
He explained that he carefully inspected the finished works for possible errors or areas that might suggest the work is rushed.
Despite his efforts, he said he couldn’t find any problems with the build.
The experience prompted him to reconsider the original arrangement, believing that the task required significantly less time and work than he had expected.
Speaking about that meeting, he recalled telling the carpenter that he needed to review the payment arrangement.
“I told him we had to reconsider our deal. That I wasn’t accepting.”
The carpenter laughed at the suggestion and insisted that the original agreement would stand.
‘A deal is a deal’
Responding to the inquiry, the carpenter defended the agreed fee and explained that his speed was the result of experience and skill gained over time.
“A deal is a deal.”
The man admitted that the carpenter had a valid point and acknowledged that expertise often allows professionals to perform tasks more efficiently than expected.
His post has since caused reactions on the Internet, with many people claiming that clients pay not only for work and time, but also for experience, knowledge and efficiency.
Others noted that accurately estimating the value of skilled labor remains a common challenge in service-related businesses.
The story contributed to ongoing conversations about pricing, expertise and fairness in professional contracts.
