Obasi Emmanuel, the ex-husband of Nollywood actress Judy Austin, has issued a public apology for his emotional utterance during a recent podcast appearance where he spoke about their failed marriage.
It will be recalled that Obasi was recently a guest on the HonestBunch podcast, where he stated that Judy Austin had feelings for actor Yul Edochie while they were still married.
During the interview, he became visibly emotional and was seen wiping his eyes with a handkerchief, a moment that quickly sparked reactions online.
In a video shared on Wednesday, June 17, Obasi apologized for breaking down during the debate, explaining that his emotions were fueled by the topic.
he said:
“I want to take this opportunity to apologize for crying in that podcast; it was not my fault. I was emotional; I did not travel from Onitsha to Lagos to cry. Please forgive me and bear with me; something moved me.”
He also rejected claims that his tears were for Judy Austin, insisting that his emotions were related to his desire to have a relationship with his children.
“I also want the world to know that I don’t cry for my wife; I only cry for my children.” he added.
Responding to online critics who focused on the handkerchief he used during the interview, Obasi urged people to pay attention to his message instead of his distractions.
“Nigerian men should be careful. Imagine your colleague comes out crying saying he wants to see his kids; you left the matter and you were talking about his handkerchief; why don’t you focus on what I’m saying,” he said.
