Man loses contract worth ₦20 million after using WhatsApp’s disappearing messages feature

A social media user shared a story claiming that the businessman allegedly lost contract worth more than ₦20 million after using WhatsApp’s disappearing message feature, sparking a debate online about trust and professionalism in business communication.
According to an account published on X, the entrepreneur initially submitted the proposal to the company manager, who was impressed enough to arrange a meeting with the company’s director.
The proposal reportedly received positive feedback, and the director expressed his willingness to approve the project.
The director is reportedly looking for a final offer
The user explained that before giving the final approval, the director requested some changes and provided his WhatsApp contact for submitting the revised offer. The document was allegedly sent as directed.
However, the situation allegedly took an unexpected turn shortly after the offer was delivered. The businessman reportedly noticed that he could no longer see the director’s picture on WhatsApp just minutes after sending the document.
Worried by the turn of events, he reportedly contacted the manager overseeing the process to find out what had happened.
The contract option has reportedly been withdrawn
According to User X, the manager informed the entrepreneur that the director had decided to end contract negotiations and instructed the company to look for another contractor for the project.
The post further claimed that the director’s decision was related to the use of WhatsApp’s disappearing message feature.
The director allegedly saw that place as a red flag and an indication of questionable character, which is why he did not want to continue the business relationship.
