Mbappe’s first goal equaled Giroud’s long-standing record, while the second ensured he became France’s top scorer.

The 27-year-old struck from distance deep into injury time, producing a powerful finish that left Mendy with no chance and moved him to 58 international goals.

Senegal’s response was brief

Senegal briefly threatened a comeback when Ibrahim Mbaye reduced the deficit after France had taken a two-goal lead.

The African side pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but ultimately came up short.
