“Mercy Chinwo turned it into a concert” – Daddy Freeze Explains Why He Left Alex Ekubo’s Service of Songs, Questions Nathaniel Bassey
Media personality Papa Freeze has revealed why he left the song service organized in honor of the late actor Alex Ekubo.
Speaking about the event in a viral video doing the rounds on the internet, he said he attended the event expecting a festive gathering aimed at mourning the actor and supporting his bereaved family.
According to him, he was surprised by some aspects of the program, especially the continuation of serious worship activities despite the actor’s death.
“Nathaniel Bassey said they were supposed to go and pray for Alex on Tuesday but he died on Monday. They still went on Tuesday and they were still singing and praying. I’m really like? What happened to the miracles and healings you share on your platforms?” he asked.
Media personality too he hit a famous gospel singer and convener of the Hallelujah Challenge, questioning some of the miracles and testimonies often posted on his platform.
Daddy Freeze further stated that he would rather hear more from Alex Ekubo’s family members including his widow, siblings and cousins than long sermons and speeches.
He explained that he initially stayed at the event despite the preaching sessions, but eventually decided to leave when the atmosphere changed.
“Mercy Chinwo climbed the pulpit and turned the place into a concert. At that point I got up and left,” he said.
His remarks have since drawn mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that funeral events should reflect and focus more on the deceased, while others argued that veneration and eulogy are appropriate ways to honor the dead.
The comments continue to spark debate on social media as Nigerians share differing opinions on how memorial services and carol services should be conducted.
