“She sold my father’s property and ignored us” – Mr. Ibu’s son accuses stepmother Stella of taking control of the late actor’s property

- The alleged son of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, Okafor Somotochukwu, has accused his step-mother, Stella, of taking control of the actor’s property and assets after his death.
- He alleged that several properties were sold without the involvement of other children and claimed that he received little support despite financial difficulties.
- The claims emerged after Stella reportedly sought public assistance, sparking fresh controversy over the administration of the late actor’s estate.

A new controversy has emerged within the family of late Nollywood legend John Okafor, following allegations leveled by one of his sons, Okafor Somotochukwu, against his stepmother, Stella.
In a statement circulating online, Somotochukwu, who identified himself as the late actor’s third son and fourth child, disputed claims that Stella’s children were the only children Mr. Ibu left behind.
According to him, the actor had several children, both older and younger than him, and he felt compelled to speak out because he felt that the story being made public was unfair to the rest of the family.
He claims the properties were sold without involving the other children
Somotochukwu claimed that after the death of Mr. Ibu, Stella took control of the late actor’s property and assets.
He claimed that the property in Lagos was sold for ₦60 million without other children being brought into the process. He further stated that the Enugu property was sold for about ₦17 million and another property in Asaba for ₦11 million.
According to him, despite the reported sales, he only received £40,000 from Stella, which he said was presented as a gift and not as part of the earnings.
It raises concerns about donations received during illness
The late actor’s son also cited funds allegedly donated by Nigerians during Mr. Ibu’s health problems, stating that significant amounts of money were raised before his father’s death.
He expressed frustration over his financial difficulties, claiming that he could not meet his school fees and access his WAEC results despite the existence of assets and funds left by his father.
The allegations come shortly after reports emerged that Stella had asked for financial help, citing challenges facing her household and children.
Somotochukwu’s statement has since sparked debate online, with many Nigerians calling for transparency regarding the late actor’s legacy, while others urged both parties to resolve the matter privately.
