“Sir, this is not the story you told us” — Landlord fined ₦100k after reporting tenant to police

AND lady shared the story of how a landlord paid ₦100,000 after reporting a tenant to the police for a broken padlock.

According to the report, the incident began when the resident was preparing for a job interview early in the morning and was scheduled to leave the complex before the usual door opening time.

The landlord insisted that the gate remain locked until 7am, despite the tenant’s pleas to rush to an important meeting.

According to the lady, around 6 o’clock in the morning, the tenant begged to be let out of the yard, but he did not succeed.

Faced with the possibility of missing the interview, the tenant broke the padlock securing the gate and left the area.

Later that day, the landlord returned with the officers, accusing the tenant of damaging the lock and demanding his arrest.

The police are questioning the neighbors

Upon arrival at the property, the officers allegedly questioned the neighbors about the incident.

Did the tenant sleep here last night?”

When the residents said no, the officers asked who broke the padlock.

Then who broke the lock?”

According to the statement, the neighbors pointed to the landlord’s son, which prompted the police to investigate the landlord’s version of events.

The lady further claimed that before the policemen left, the landlord paid ₦100,000 for wasting the time of the police.
