  • The mockery stemmed from a family video she shared on Snapchat that went viral.
  • Baci expressed disappointment at the negative reactions to the playful family moment.

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has spoken out against online users who mocked her 15-year-old brother after a family video of him went viral.

The culinary star expressed her disappointment that a simple and playful moment shared on her Snapchat account turned into a subject of ridicule after it was reposted on various social media platforms.

According to Hilda, her younger brother became the target of unnecessary criticism even though he had done nothing wrong other than appearing in the video with her.

Reacting via her X account, the Guinness World Record holder condemned the treatment of the teenager and questioned why adults would abuse a child online.

She explained that the video was originally released for entertainment and was never intended to attract wider attention. However, after it was picked up by blogs and social media sites, it soon became a source of jokes and mockery.

Hilda further stated that some individuals have gone so far as to edit pictures of her brother to make him appear larger, all in an attempt to encourage engagement on social media.

“I never imagined that a light-hearted video with my 15-year-old brother would be taken from my Snapchat, reposted on different platforms and turned into an excuse to abuse a child,” she wrote.

She added:

“Adults are editing a picture of a 15-year-old boy and publicly mocking him. My brother did nothing but exist in a funny video with his sister.”

The chef criticized those making offensive comments about the teenager, pointing out that he is still a child and should not be subjected to online bullying because of the viral footage.

“If your idea of fun is destroying a child, then that’s a reflection of your character, not his. He’s a child, stop being cruel,” she stated.

Hilda also described her brother as a kind-hearted and loving boy with a promising future ahead of him. She claimed that negative comments and manipulated images will not determine the person she will grow up to be.

She concluded by urging Nigerians to be more careful with their words on social media, especially when it comes to minors, reminding users that every viral photo or video depicts a real person who can be affected by online comments.

She added:

“He’s kind. He’s loved. He’s growing, learning, and becoming the amazing young man I know he will be. I hope that before you type another insult or share another edited picture, you’ll remember that there’s a real teenager on the other side of your screen reading what you write. Do better.”
