During the performance of the task, he said, he briefly used the moment to satisfy his curiosity about the football club he has supported for years.

Recalling the incident, he described how he was quietly checking live football news while installing the apps requested by the hijacker’s leader.
“When I was in the kidnapper’s den, their boss once gave me his phone and told me to install WhatsApp and TikTok for him. I’m not even arguing, I’m just picking up the phone… but while I was there and I quietly snuck in to check the live scores to see how Manchester United are doing in the Premier League table.”
The revelation drew attention online, with many social media users expressing surprise at how football remained on his mind despite the difficult circumstances.

The survivor further revealed that the incident took place around November and that Manchester United were sitting ninth in the Premier League table when he checked.
