“I became selfish because of my happiness”

34-year-old South African ladyVhahangwele Rashaka, caused reactions online after undergoing surgery to remove her fallopian tubes in order to live a child-free life.

She revealed that it will soon be one year since the surgery that changed her life.

The medical officer revealed this in a Facebook post on Saturday, June 13, where she reflected on her lifestyle and expressed satisfaction with her decision.

“I want a life without children,” says Lady

Rashaka, who openly stated that she did not want to childrenshe said she feels fulfilled and in control of her life choices.

She wrote:

“I’m going to celebrate one year after having my fallopian tubes surgically removed (salpingectomy). I’m living my wildest dreams. I’m living the life I definitely imagined when I was an 18-year-old girl.”

Personal reflection

She further described herself as someone who lives life on her own terms, without social, cultural or external pressure.

I am definitely the wildest dreams of my ancestors, a lady with options and able to choose for myself, not forced by circumstances, culture or pressure, but able to choose,” she wrote.

Rashaka added that her decision reflects her personal happiness, even though it is not widely accepted in society.

This is important because I chose what is frowned upon most of the time. I chose myself and only myself. I became selfish because of my happiness and that is a great achievement.” she stated.
