Arsenal are facing an Alvarez setback as the player is set to reject a move from London

Arsenal’s hopes to sign Julian Alvarez have taken a big hit this summer, and reports suggest that Atletico Madrid striker is hesitant to move to London despite interest from the Premier League champions.
The Gunners have been linked with the Argentina international as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season.
However, Alvarez is reportedly not interested in a move to the English capital, casting doubt on a potential move to the Emirates Stadium.
According to reports in Spain, Arsenal are currently the only club willing to make a serious move for the 26-year-old, but the player has preferred to stay in Spain rather than return to English football.

Alvarez prefers to stay in Spain
The former Manchester City striker joined Atletico Madrid to play a leading role under Diego Simeone and quickly became an important figure for the club.
Despite constant transfer speculation, Alvarez is happy in Madrid and is not actively looking to leave. Reports claim that his reluctance to live in London has become a significant obstacle to Arsenal’s pursuit.
The situation was complicated by the lack of alternative destinations.
Although Barcelona have already been linked with the Argentine, financial constraints have reportedly prevented the Catalan club from making concrete progress.
As a result, discussions surrounding Alvarez’s future have stalled, with no immediate progress expected.
Atletico are planning ahead
Atletico Madrid are keeping quiet about the speculation and are reportedly building their plans for next season around Alvarez.
The forward has enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 20 goals in all competitions and establishing himself as one of the club’s key attacking players.
With a contract that runs until 2030, Atletico are under no pressure to sell and are instead focused on strengthening other parts of their squad during the transfer window.
It is believed that the Spanish club will prioritize defensive and midfield reinforcements, while they are confident that Alvarez will remain at the Metropolitano Stadium.
For now, the striker’s attention is expected to turn to international duty with Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup before any decisions are made regarding his long-term club future.
Arsenal, meanwhile, could be forced to explore alternative attacks if Alvarez remains unwilling to consider a move to North London.
